Hi, call me Sav. I am a MasterChef Australia Top 3 finalist, private chef, and passionate food lover based in Adelaide with a deep love for all things Sri Lankan cuisine.
For me, food is more than just nourishment – it’s a connection to my roots and my family. Growing up in a Sri Lankan household, my love for cooking blossomed in my Ammi (mum)'s kitchen. After her passing, creating the dishes she taught me became my way of staying close to her and preserving her memory. Everything I am, I owe to my mother, and food is how I continue to celebrate her and hold her memory close.
While I originally pursued a career in neuroscience and psychology, my heart always belonged to food. Competing on MasterChef finishing in the top 3 was not where I thought I'd be but here we are! While I always had a decent presence on Instagram in the promotion of Sri Lankan cuisine, being on the show expanded that platform toa broader audience. I love blending the rich flavors of my heritage with modern techniques and fresh ideas.
Living in Adelaide, I’m inspired by the incredible fresh, seasonal produce that Australia has to offer. I love infusing the bold, diverse flavors of Sri Lanka with culinary techniques from different cuisines, creating dishes that tell a story. Whether I’m working as a private chef or crafting custom menus, my goal is always the same: to bring people together through unforgettable food experiences, to recreate the love and warmth that I remember in my childhood home, sitting next to my sister and parents.
When I’m not in the kitchen, you can find me spending quality time with my partner, affectionately known as “White Chocolate" (IYKYK), cuddling with my cat Bandit, or getting lost in a good book. I also love making any excuse to socialise with friends, whether it’s over a meal or just enjoying each other’s company.
